I'm David Grigg, a theatre sound designer, engineer, composer, and technical manager based on Sydney's South Coast, Australia.
I've spent the last 15 years working across musical theatre, contemporary theatre, orchestral performance, dance, live music, broadcast, and venue operations, including nearly a decade at Sydney Opera House. A lot of that time has been spent behind a console in a dark auditorium, marking up scripts, chasing cues, managing notes, and trying to keep complex shows moving cleanly through rehearsals and tech.
Sound Script came out of that world.
Sound Script exists because when the room is moving quickly, your script needs to keep up.
For years, I was using general-purpose PDF and annotation apps to do a very specific theatre sound job. They worked, technically, but they were never built for the way theatre sound people actually mark up a script. I didn't need an all-in-one tool. I needed something fast, clear, practical, and focused on the reality of preparing, rehearsing and mixing a show.
So I built Sound Script.
It's the app I always wished I had at the desk: a script markup tool designed around theatre sound workflow. Something simple enough to stay out of the way, but specific enough to actually support the work.
